Ceanothus gloriosus ''Heart''s Desire'' - Pt. Reyes Ceanothus A low spreading shrubs that remains under 1 foot tall with small bronze-highlighted glossy foliage and pale blue flowers. A great ground cover for coastal gardens. Drought tolerant. Hardy to 15 degrees F. A selection by Phil van Soelen of California Flora Nursery. Not recommended for hotter interior gardens.

Ceanothus griseus horizontalis - Carmel Creeper A fast growing groundcover to 2 1/2 feet tall by 15 wide with 2 inch long oval, glossy green leaves and light blue flower clusters that appear winter through spring. Best grown in coastal conditions; needs summer watering and partial shade inland. Hardy to about 20-25 degrees F. Grows taller if planted too close together or allowed to mound on other plants.
